Sorbet summer

I’m thoroughly enjoying the hot summer this year and I’m obsessed with making sorbets with all the fantastic fruit available at my local market. I love my trusty Magimix Le Glacier ice cream maker and I keep it in the freezer compartment so it’s ready whenever I need it. I’m not big on gadgets but it really is worth its weight in gold. So far this summer, I’ve made Clementine & Campari sorbet, Blood Orange & Campari, Chocolate and Espresso, Strawberry, and Apricot & Cardamon sherbet. They’ve all been delicious although my favourite was the Hendricks Gin and Fevertree tonic sorbet I made for the Wimbledon men’s final.  I remember having Gordon’s G&T sorbet when I went to Wimbledon many years ago and I wanted to recreate it at home. It was DELICIOUS and it didn’t last very long because everyone loved it. Sorbets don’t contain any fat, unlike ice cream of course, but they do contain a fair bit of sugar. They are hardly a diet option but definitely a dessert treat that hits the spot on a baking hot day.

My favourite ice cream still has to be my homemade vanilla with raisins soaked in Pedro Ximinez sherry and a little extra sherry poured over the top. Heaven on a spoon!
